A super absorbent polymer (SAP) is a substance that can absorb hundreds to thousands of times its own weight in water. This polymer securely retains the absorbed liquids even when subjected to pressure. We were the first in the world to begin commercial production of SAP in 1978.
It is a sodium-containing cross-linked (network) polymer. It absorbs water through a process known as osmosis. When the (sodium-containing) polymer comes into contact with water, the sodium tends to spread evenly between the network and the water.
